Lovettsville held its Opening Day festivities for all its teams playing in the Upper Loudoun Little League on Saturday.
The festivities began at 9 a.m. with all the teams piling into beds of pickup trucks that drove from the Lovettsville Community Center to the ball fields at Lovettsville Elementary. Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue positioned emergency vehicles at all the intersections along the route to ensure safe passage and then followed the last ball team to the fields.
Mayor Elaine Walker, a LVFR volunteer and Assistant Rescue Chief Kelly Gray were among those who threw out the first pitch to start the season.
The wagon and ambulance crews stayed to watch the ball games and to be there in case their services were needed.
